1940s 1950s Evening Dress Coral Chiffon Tulle Princess Gown Sz 6 #1292
1940s 1950s Evening Dress Coral Chiffon Tulle Princess Gown Sz 6 #1292. An original 1940s 1950s evening dress in coral pink chiffon in an iconic fit and flare design. The dress features a gathered chiffon bodice with asymmetrical crossover front and an inverted tulip front waistline, spaghetti straps, and 3 layers of dress with satin, tulle and chiffon. The full sweep skirt is dramatic and frothy in the 3 layers. The dress has a center back zipper metal zipper, and two dramatic chiffon falls that snap onto the inside of the back bodice, or onto the tops of the spaghetti straps.

These falls add drama and elegance. The bodice is very fitted and princess seamed with a hook and eye at the top of the zipper. The top front of the bodice is covered with tiny cream colored flowers, each with a pearly center - so sweet!

The skirt is fully gathered at the high hip where there is a piped seam. The color is stunning - the satin underdress, the tulle in between and the chiffon on top are all coral pink and the effect is almost magical, and one can see why this iconic design was known as the princess dress. The dress goes to the knees on my six foot model, but would be below the knee of someone of average height. The gown is beautifully designed and made, but any designers label has been lost over time. The measurements (approximate) of the princess gown are.

Bust (pit to pit) 34. Length of fall when attached to inside of back bodice 37. These measurements are roughly equivalent to a modern US size 6. There is no stretch to the fabric and the bodice is very fitted.

The gown looks fabulous with the full crinoline (not included), and these can be found inexpensively on the internet. It can be worn without of crinoline but the skirt has less volume. Want to ensure that you have a totally unique evening dress? No one else will be wearing one like this, and you won't have to pay the price of an original designer gown to have that reassurance!

There are no major condition issues with the dress. However, this is a vintage garment from the 1940s that is at least 55 years old, and there may be some minor signs of age related wear. The satin fabric of the gown is strong and soft and there are no stains that I could find, including the underarms. The tulle is crisp but soft, and not dry or brittle at all. The thread loop for the hook and eye at the top of the zipper is frayed - a metal eye could be used to replace it.

Otherwise I found no issues whatsoever with the dress, which appears to be very well preserved and in remarkable condition for age. The gown has been dry cleaned and is clean and ready to wear to your 1950s themed or any formal event. Wear it with a stunning waist corsage as shown (not included - see our other listings). What a find for a collector in terms of condition, and this gown is completely wearable. This is NOT a reproduction or a cheap offshore imitation - this is an all original 1940s or 1950s elegant evening dress or.

The sizing of vintage clothing can be very different from modern sizes. An item of clothing manufactured 100 years ago was for body shapes different from our own.

Although we quote to the nearest. Equivalent US size, we recommend that you review all the detailed measurements provided closely. Please be aware that vintage clothing is neither new nor perfect. In many cases, vintage clothing has been worn and is no longer new, and that is why it is such a good bargain. Excellent antique or vintage condition rarely means new - do not expect new or perfect as there will almost always be some signs of wear, especially with older items.

Sometimes we sell newer vintage items that are new old stock (NOS) so they have never been worn and can be in such excellent condition that there are no signs of wear. But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years.

Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget. You can often find extraordinary examples of antique, vintage or designer items that are wearable textile art and will make you look like a million bucks!
